Associations with buildings that are more than 15 to 20 years old, and those converted from older apartment buildings, are often the most financially challenging associations to operate. Patrick's first-hand experience, trying to educate his co-owners to invest in and save their property, sparked his passion for this subject.
Patrick has created course content and taught groups of home owners, in his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky, as well as other locations in the United States from California to New York.
With help from more than 50 subject matter experts around the United States, Patrick created a "how-to" guide for board members and owners at Associations. The book is titled, "Condos Townhomes and Home Owner Associations: How to make your investment safer" (available at www.Amazon.com)
The companion website is at www.CondoHOAinfo.com. The site contains sound-bite, video mini-lessons on key topics for condo board members and owners. Patrick has been interviewed by many media outlets, including PBS, several local TV and radio talk shows, The Chicago Tribune, Investor's Business Daily and others. Now, teaching about this form of "shared expenses" housing – and the urgency for its financial soundness – has become a personal mission for him.
